Refreshed NETS*T

To insure that students have access to technology-supported instruction that makes a difference, teachers need to develop their skills in developing and implementing effective activities that incorporate various technologies.

Read the refreshed NETS*T handout. How do the NETS*T support student achievement? How would implementation of these standards impact your site professional development plan? What positive outcomes do you predict for teachers? What challenges might teachers face?

Discuss your thoughts with your team. Which of the team's ideas would you like to share with the total group?

When your team is ready to add its answers, the typist needs to:

1. Click the Edit button

2. Place the cursor in the space provided for the question you are answering and start typing

3. When your answer is complete, the typist needs to click the Save button.

Repeat this process until you have answered the four questions about the NETS*T.

1. How do the NETS*T support student achievement?  Differentiation of instruction can occur in a more relevant fashion by using technology.  Project based learning.

2How would implementation of these standards impact your site professional development plan? Teaching teacher how to set up project based learning lessons/units.  This includes establishing a rubric to determine proficiency.

3. What positive outcomes do you predict for teachers? ? Continual adjustment of teaching strategies so that success can occur for all students using differentiation of instruction.  Technology can be used as a vehicle to give students another means to be engaged with the curriculum.

4. What challenges might teachers face? Teachers still have to have prior knowledge of successful instructional techniques before they can use the tool of technology.  Teachers need to to know how to develop lessons/units and adjust to meet the goals.  This should include the use of multiple instructional strategies ie technology.  Some teachers/educators may be afraid to give up "control" of the learning process due to their unfamiliarity with the details of the various technologies.
