To insure that students have access to technology-supported instruction that makes a difference, teachers need to develop their skills in developing and implementing effective activities that incorporate various technologies.
Read the refreshed NETS*T handout. How do the NETS*T support student achievement? How would implementation of these standards impact your site professional development plan? What positive outcomes do you predict for teachers? What challenges might teachers face?
Discuss your thoughts with your team. Which of the team's ideas would you like to share with the total group?

They provide alternative instructional strategies that assist student learning. Standards formalize what teachers must do.

Onsite , embedded, realistic inservice will be needed at all levels with ongoing support. Expectation for teachers must be articulated to staff. An end product expectation from the in-service and follow-up monitoring will be needed .

3. What positive outcomes do you predict for teachers?
Teachers will make connections to the curriculum which they present to students. Teachers will develop increased confidence-knowing more in a field where students have current knowledge.

4. What challenges might teachers face?
Teachers continue to have fear of what they don't know and might be challenged to learn. Thhey are comfortable with other ways. A challenge could be the ability to participate in perfessional develop.
