How the ideas presented in this section relate to Australia’s initiative: The initial recommendation is to provide laptops to teachers one year prior to the implementation for students.

Challenges we see, based upon what we’ve read: Students and teachers are receiving the equipment at the same time. Most teachers have not received PD in effective use of 1 to 1 computing.

Strategies we can adopt: Training needs to encompass more than how to use the hardware. Provide specific PD in instructional strategies and pedagogy. Ongoing PD in a variety of formats is critical.
