Blueprint section:

 LEADERSHIP

How the ideas presented in this section relate to Australia’s initiative:

In Australia, there three of levels of decision making - federal government, school system and individual school .  Some of the leadership decisions are made for schools by the system or government. The major role for individual school communities is in implementation, as well as some local infrastructure and funding decisions.

The involvement of teachers, students and parents is similar to that outlined in the papers(where the school community is making the decisions and implementing policy)

Challenges we see, based upon what we’ve read:

  • addressing local issues - eg parent expectations, access to technology in students' homes
  • addressing on going issues - eg costs of infrastructure to support the initiative, updating software,

Strategies we can adopt:

  •  thorough consultation and planning at school level
  • professional development, professional development, professional development.....
