NETS for Students and Teachers

 

 

Think of a school-age child or young adult you know. What kind of school experience has this student had so far? Is s/he successful academically? What kinds of challenges does s/he face?

 

Now read the NETS for Students handout. How would technology-supported instruction based on these standards impact this student? What positive results would you predict? What challenges might arise? How do these standards align with the 21st century framework?

 

Discuss your thoughts with your team. Which of the team's ideas would you like to share with the total group?

 

Just one person may edit a wiki page at a time. Choose a typist. When your team is ready to add its answers, the typist needs to:

 

 

1. Click the Edit button

 

2. Place the cursor in the space provided for the question you are answering and start typing

 

3. When your answer is complete, the typist needs to click the Save button.

In order to insure that students have access to technology-supported instruction that will make a difference, teachers need to develop their skills in developing and implementing effective activities that incorporate various technologies.

 

Keeping in mind the ideas your team discussed related to the NETS for Students, read the refreshed NETS for Teachers handout. How do the NETS for Teachers support student achievement? How would implementation of these standards impact your school improvement plan? What positive outcomes do you predict for teachers? What challenges might teachers face?
